Residency
*WE ARE ON HIATUS UNTIL 2025*
Our residency is open to creative people and thinkers of all disciplines. We offer an inspiring environment, beautiful nature, a picturesque village and a magical, lovingly restored old house. Cel del Nord is suited to anyone who seeks peace and quiet and a sense of ‘getting away’ to write, make artwork or do other work of a contemplative nature.
We consider applications to work on anything, but are particularly interested in those thinking about:
artificial intelligence (either practical or conceptual)
ancient roman settlements (the residency is in walking distance of a dig site)
agriculture, food sources and the ecological impact of farming
the future, futurism, utopias, human potential
starting or finishing writing projects, e.g. novels.
Workspace
50m2 studio area with 4m high ceiling
Large windows on opposite walls
Four bright overhead lights

We ask for a contribution towards running costs but don’t generate a profit. Residents are technically our ‘guests’.
Once dates are agreed, we send a budget for the stay that outlines what a resident’s contribution would be. Expect to contribute less than €20 per day.

About the resident
- A formal arts education or qualification in the field of research is not necessary, but applicants must demonstrate a commitment to their field, for example; structured thinking; adding to skills sets; taking part in exhibitions, conferences, a community or both; taking part in reading groups or crit groups etc.
- We are interested to hear from artists and thinkers who are working alongside the realities of life, be that family commitment, paid work or similar.
- Applying as a small group or a pair is encouraged. For people who know each other well, we can accommodate up to 6 people.
- If you’re still at university or college or have finished a BA, MA or other diploma within two years of the deadline you are not yet eligible.
How to apply
To apply please send an email to info@celdelnord.com.
Please include:
– A project proposal that covers what you will do, how you will do it and why, maximum 500 words.
– A note in the email body that describes why Cel del Nord is suited to you and your project, maximum 250 words.
– Your preferred dates, and whether or not these dates are flexible.
– Web address or social links if you have them. Note that we will only look at the first three links.
Applications are assessed first on practicality (dates), then on suitability to the environment, then on the maturity of the work plan. When we are unable to accommodate an applicant, it is almost always about dates. We are not in the business of passing judgement on creative work. Please don’t be disheartened if we can’t take you, it’s almost certainly not about you or your work.
